Supporting Reproductive Rights For Patients Across Iowa
Our leadership comprises experienced healthcare professionals, including physicians, clinicians, pharmacists, nurses, and therapists, all committed to safeguarding reproductive freedom in Iowa.
An Ob-Gyn in Waverly, Iowa. Providing care to women who desire or who do not desire pregnancy is the most compassionate part of her work. She is driven to make sure healthcare is just, safe and dignified. Women’s essential healthcare includes abortion care, reproductive technology, and contraception – and she believes that restrictions on these services harm patients, families and communities.
Practicing Family Medicine/OB in Des Moines, IA. She completed her medical education in Florida and then came to Iowa to complete her residency and fellowship training. Dr. Festing-Smith is passionate about Women’s Health, advocacy and education. She feels very strongly about reproductive freedom and the patient right to autonomous decisions regarding their healthcare.
Practicing Maternal-Fetal Medicine/OB-GYN in Iowa City, IA, caring for women with high-risk pregnancies. Dr. Greiner advocates for reproductive freedom to honor her mother who was a medical/surgical nurse in the 1960s and cared for women with devastating outcomes after illegal abortions. Dr. Greiner has seen that pregnant patients must have all options available to them when life-threatening complications arise. Dr. Greiner is determined to never go back to the days before abortion was legal and women died because they did not have reproductive freedom.
A Certified Nurse Midwife since 2020. Prior to discovering her passion for women’s health, she worked as a staff and travel RN since 2012 specializing in cardiac, neurology, and step-down ICU units. As an Iowa native, Emily believes that the women of Iowa need and deserve a voice to protect their right to make decisions about their reproductive health. Emily also believes in fighting to keep that decision between the women of Iowa and the providers they choose without fear and judgment.
A retired Family Medicine primary care physician in eastern Iowa for 30 years. She is concerned about the status of women’s healthcare and infant mortality in Iowa and the nation. She has experienced the impact restricting abortion prescriptions and procedures on attracting needed OBGyn and Family Medicine providers to the state.
A Family Medicine Physician practicing in Ankeny, IA. Michael enjoys providing a wide range of care to individuals and families of all walks of life. Keeping non-medical government legislators out of the physician-patient relationship is what motivated Michael to join Iowa Physicians For Reproductive Freedom
An OB-GYN in Grinnell, Iowa. She provides healthcare services to rural and underserved women in Iowa. Dr. Tigges is passionate about empowering and supporting the women in her community and those at large to make the choices that they see best for themselves. This demands reproductive freedom and freedom of choice. She feels extraordinarily proud of what women contribute to their families, their communities, and society as a whole. She never wants to go back to a time where limitations on women inhibit or obstruct their capacity for influence.
Raised in the suburbs of Chicago and is now an OB-GYN based in Des Moines. Dr. Turner champions womens’ health and reproductive rights. She serves as the legislative co-chair for the Iowa section of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) and has represented ACOG in Washington, D.C. Dr. Turner strives to dismantle barriers and empower individuals to make informed choices. She has unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and comprehensive reproductive healthcare access.
An Ob-Gyn physician who specializes in the care of infertile women. He has been working in medicine for 33 years, and has the experience to appreciate the many complex, personal and emotional decisions people face when trying to build a family. Dr. Van Voorhis believes these decisions should be made in the privacy of the physician-patient visit and not by legislators with no idea of the circumstances of another individual.
